A new coin is out: blue (silver) Germania 1 oz. Mint claims they make only 500 pieces. Even at the level of Germany, that's a very small amount, which can be sold out fast. The coin is predominantly "space blue", comes with a certificate and special box. Not sure about the quality, whether it's just superficially finished or high-quality mint. Costs 250-270 USD a piece. Here's the coin: https://germaniamint.com/germania-2019-space-blue/ Worth buying one for a 10-20 year investment? Yes, obviously for speculative numismatic reasons. For some reason the Chinese Liaoning Aircraft Carrier silver coin popped up in my mind. Only 500 pieces out there... hmmm
Wow they're really milking this design. Not sure about long term at that high-entry point price and with so many variants, but might be a good (risky) flip.
In my opinion, if that were the only design, then great...but now they have 20 difference flavors of different colors with different shades...so, is the mintage really 50? If the blue were the only color each year, then I think it may be worth collecting...but with all the variances...no chance for me to touch them with a 10 foot pole.
Any colored coin series reminds me of the Lunar Dragon coins. They too were variations on the same subject. Yet, they still look nice.
I am watching this coin as well, NGC PF70 about 200-220 usd locally in China - Shanghai area, i will be travelling back to Shanghai next week. Hope to catch one. The PF69 is about 950-990 RMB
