Wanting to know your thoughts on Initative Q. https://i.stuff.co.nz/business/opin...-new-bitcoin-but-heres-why-the-idea-has-value Initiative Q is an attempt by ex-PayPal guys to create a new payment system instead of credit cards that were designed in the 1950s. The system uses its own currency, the Q, and to get people to start using the system once it's ready they are allocating Qs for free to people that sign up now (the amount drops as more people join - so better to join early). Signing up is free and they only ask for your name and an email address. There's nothing to lose but if this payment system becomes a world leading payment method your Qs can be worth a lot. If you missed getting bitcoin seven years ago, you wouldn't want to miss this. Here is my invite link: https://initiativeq.com/invite/HW3MZ7Vp7 This link will stop working once I’m out of invites. Let me know after you registered, because I need to verify you on my end.
My skeptic mind they are collecting: - names and emails from Facebook users who think scammy schemes might be a go - names and emails of users who will get their contacts into the scam pyramid - a cool profile of all those people assuming Cambridge Analytics or whoever data mines Facebook now can map location, age, etc All kinds of dodgy companies would love that data. I'm probably wrong.
I agree with your skepticism. The bike sharing schemes which have hit Aust in last few years is only aiming for data collection (and resale) not revenue from bike hire, but at the end of day, whataya have to lose with this. Given them an email account which is dispensable and have a giggle with it.
