I love stacking, it was more of like a fixed deposit investment, without expecting much in returns consider inflation. But, I've developed a distinctive liking to these shiny round metals.

A lot of the problem is that most people can's discern a sales pitch from financial advisement.

YouTube sites like TruthNeverTold or SilverGold.com or Kitco are all selling gold directly or heavily sponsored by metals dealers. Those are infomercials, and sensationalism appeals to emotion... and that is unfortunately what sells. The more they can convince you that the sky is falling and metals are about to spike in price, the more they will sell.

This is the same way that most major money magazines preach mutual funds and index funds being safe and steady and blah blah: the funds are who sponsors the publications. You are reading thinly veiled ads (but apparently the veil is thick enough that a lot of people take them to be "solid advice").

...Is there a bit of education value in there? Sure... sometimes. However, you need to take it all with a grain of salt and do your own learning, use your own logic, know your needs and risk tolerance, and make up your own mind - regarding metals or any other asset or investment.

Personally, I agree with Nancy above: for me, gold and silver are a safe store of value that will not do much aside from correct for inflation and currency supply from time to time. Ray Dalio and many of the world's biggest gold investors have echoed this. That can be a huge part of saving an overall portfolio from the bad stock market years, though. Since those gold/silver rises to correction for inflation are usually when other equity investments are deflating or have recently crashed, it is sure nice to have the gold and silver as a part of a balanced portfolio in those times. I also agree it is fun to look at the shiny stacks, though
