https://www.goldcalculator.com.au/ Seems to be pretty good and defaults to AUD too. Saves me having to make simple spreadsheets to calc value all the time =9/24*grams*pricepergram etc etc
Great tool, but it would be better classified as spot value tool. To be scrap price tool it needs a percentage discount function, basically who buys broken jewellery or scrap gold needing to be refined for spot?
Value vs price. Value is in the spot value. Price is in how much you wish to pay. I do agree, though. It would be nice to be able to put in a percentage add/subtract field.
This is a great tool. Do you know of any that convert to USD rather than AUD? Of course I would be able to just convert the prices to USD, but it would be nice to have a more direct conversion!
That’s pretty neat. Good for calculating the spot value of gold coins. No substitute for the old silver stackers coin calculator but a lot better than wrangling all the maths yourself.
I’ve just started looking at scrap but haven’t accumulated sufficient tools or knowledge to begin buying. Might stop into the Jewelry Supplies place next time I’m in Brisbane and get some testing supplies and learn how to use them.
So i do not have to start a new thread and this is kind of on topic, do you guys have many issues with 14k being extremely unreliable and the most faked? I may have just been having a bad run of late but many scrap items i have collected (only in 14k) have turned out to be fake or closer to 10k. Is this just an NZ problem or a ME problem or general problem? Thanks in advance
I would have no issues paying spot for pure metal scrap silver or gold.... but if the metal is an alloy be it 925, 80, 50% silver or any carrot gold in non recognisable/usable form should be below spot. What I mean by non recognisable state is broken jewllery, badly corroded coins, dubious hallmarks or not desirable for what it is .
