So I have a rare collection of US banknotes consisting of star notes, silver certificates, early US notes and modified gilded and coloured note. great for a reseller or just someone who wants an instant collection. All are strictly UNC with many consecutive runs and are contained in a quality Renniks Banknote Album, there is $269usd face value or $343 AUD so its a bargain at $1150+postage at cost
that is correct, ironically if these were Australian star note and earlier bank notes in unc condition the collection would be worth 10's of thousands of dollars. But the us printers obviously make more mistakes hence the low price
Not necessarily. AFAIK it has to do with the type of currency and denomination. Being a paper/linen blend they inherently will degrade over time, and ones, fives and tens being the most used will exacerbate the issue. But yeah, aussie star notes in unc or even Aunc are as rare as hens teeth
I do like the silver certificates though, if only for the novelty. Did they ever do gold certificates? I mean they were on the Gold standard till '33 I think it was
The US was on a gold standard and they had both silver and gold certificates. Redeemable in physical metal.
