I can't find any reference to a 2012 Masterpieces set on the RAM website (or anywhere else), so it would appear that none was forthcoming.. I recently acquired a 2006 set, and sadly, the plaque is not silver It's a soft white metal, non magnetic, SG between 7 & 8 (from memory). my guess is a zinc based alloy (??) I'd say it's a pretty safe bet that the 2007 plaque is the same. re the 2008 - '10 sets, I don't have any of these (yet), & haven't sighted a COA, but my sources (incl. McDonald) indicate that these have a nominal mass (per coin) of 36.31gm.. Is this correct?
Rbaggio or other members, I really appreciate also if you can doing so for Australia silver coin set... This thread should be stick-ed so I don't have to looking around thru search tool.
2008 - 2010 $5.00 Masterpieces in Silver 6 Coin Proof Set.Mass per coin: 36.31 grams Fine Silver: 99.9% Denomination: $5.00 Mintage 2946/3000
Can you find any info at all on the 2005 set? I have been through the RAM catalogues, and I can see mention of only 2004 and 2006 sets. They late 2005 catalogue introduces the 2006 set. http://www.ramint.gov.au/designs/purchase/mintissue.cfm And yes, I have Googled.
Was the set you refer to the same as this one >> http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/2005-Aus...310684507649?pt=AU_Coins2&hash=item48563d5e01 ? The Fine Silver Proof Year Sets are often (incorrectly) described by some ebay sellers as "Masterpieces in Silver"... I suspect that is what has happened in this instance.
Great work and very useful information there, this should be put as a sticky. Rbaggio, note that for the 2009 Masterpieces each coin is 36.31g .999 which should give a total ASW of 2.3348oz
I noticed this Masterpieces in silver "error" set on ebay recently. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/172039612558 It is the 1988 set in a 1989 box. So I went and checked my recently aquired set and it has the same 1989 box. Would anyone have any idea of how many "error" sets there are or even how this would happen?
