Hi silver stackers, I’m a beginner for silver stacking. I’m looking to buy about 100 1oz coins, any type 999 silver with a reasonable condition. Is this a reasonable price? Cheers! John
Unlikely unless in circulated condition but then x100 in quantity Yeah Nah Spot $27.50c plus 15% 'perhaps' on tubed Coins. But on a fire sale who knows,it could be just a waiting game.
Thanks so much for your response! From my limited research so far, the best Bullion dealers’ silver buy back rate is spot in Melbourne, and spot - 3.5% in Sydney. I can get unlimited new 1oz coins around spot + 20%, and many almost “as new” 1kg bullion bars around spot + 5%. I’m very new to silver stacking, I just want to get more silver at lowest possible price. Do all types of bullion coins/bars increase or maintain premium value when they get old? I’m happy with any quantity and any reasonable condition (not damaged).
Mate average price for kangaroos at the moment is about spot plus 20 percent.they are great coins but as generic as you will find.most other coins are upwards of spot plus 30percent.you would perhaps be better off chasing generic bars,
I’d leave your original offer on the table, not paying the outrageous premiums on silver. Good buys on silver coins & bars come up quite often on SS. Keep checking in because bargains don’t last on here for long. IMO for what it’s worth, I’d be buying gold over silver I think it’s better value & more reliable.
buy-backs by dealers are not to be taken as your ‘pivot-point’ for your conclusion…you need to take acct on rents+wages+etc+etc to their business… I’ll back my truck up should there be anyone in SYD who are willing to ‘offload’ their Ag (or Pt or Au) coins on dealers’ buy-backs.
It seems Bullion dealers in Sydney run buy back special quite often with lots of silver bars and gold in stock from my limited experience. Maybe big investors just prefer to sell back to dealers directly. I’m not sure though.
https://www.silverstackers.com/forums/index.php?threads/pwb-1kg-bars-925.104543/ I know you said you want coins but it might hard to find a better deal than this just now. The seller is very reliable and great to deal with.
Thanks! That’s a great price. But I just got some kg recently, wanted to have a bit more varieties in my stacking.
Your money, but I’d forget about coins ATM unless they’re within a about $3 of spot. You can sell 10 oz bars all day with plenty of interest & a much lower premium. You buy coins with a big premium you’ll be chasing a big premium down the track that you may not get for many reasons such as a glut of sellers, lower silver price, milk spotting on your high premium coins etc.
Great advice from SG. Be patient, keep up with day to day pricing like you seem to have, check this and other sites regularly ie bullion network and other dealers have their up to date buy and sell prices. Most importantly be ready to pounce when a bargain becomes available because in my experience it’s quite competitive both on silver stackers and other venues when low price precious metal comes up for sale
