I am no expert on these as the issue has not personally appealed to me, but I do see them for sale regularly. So, I would say a couple of hundred dollars over the spot price would be a rough price guide. Of course, this can wary a bit depending on the year of issue and whether it is a bullion strike or a collector proof issue, and condition of the coin and eye appeal can also be contributing factors.
It's worth about the same or maybe a little more than a 1 oz Perth Mint Kangaroo. Most of the Kruggerands sold in Australia are from South African migrants smuggling them out of South Africa to evade capital controls. The ones in coin shops are invariably buybacks as no one in their right mind is going to pay GST and then hope to resell it for retail prices.
To put a dollar value on it, think somewhere in the range of $2400-2700... As @hardyakkagold said, it does invariably depend on the condition and eye appeal. It also depends on the year. 1988 releases are a particularly desirable year of issue (for reasons unknown to me but I'm guessing it's something to do with 8 being considered a lucky number in some demographics), and prices for those generally range from $2800-3100.
