Dealt with Strich only once when he had his shop in Melbourne.
Took in a load of silver coins as he had them advertised as buying for a very good price.
When I got there he told me that his advertised prices were old and that he was no longer buying for that price.
He then proceeded to start tallying up my coins for purchase at nearly half the price that he had advertised!
I told him what he could do, the scam artist.
I wonder how many little old ladies and the uniformed he scammed doing that?

I got a no interest offer on a credit card thinking I could buy bullion, except my favourite dealers don't accept credit cards. Completely forgot about eBay.

As long as PayPal is covering you, it's a low risk transaction.

    Nice one!

It that doesn't prove to you the stupidity of eBayers then nothing will.:p

I would like to see his COA stating that the coin is 1 oz gold:D

    And high relief too;)

The only coin of this type that had any precious metal content was the silver one in the masterpieces in silver set of 1988.

    Thanks for the laughs Roundy.:)

Same coin available for $200! Not even worth its face value.

Yes have to agree with you it is hard getting even face value for these coins.

I tried to unload a stack of these coins at the bank one time, the tellers didn't want to accept them and I had to create a bit
of a disturbance, and get the manager involved before they would accept them.

Needless to say I wont try that again.

I don't go out and deliberately purchase these monstrosities, but at every auction when I purchase bulk silver items a few
of these mongrels are always there amongst the silver goodies.

I should share a buy i bought a couple of years ago. There was a country NSW seller selling a family collection. The seller had good feedback but only 40 ratings. The auction was for 10-15kg of coins including round 50s, pre and post decimal silver, a 1930 penny with possible tampering, a few random sovereigns and more. The photos they showed were like 1980s nokia shots and despite numerous requests i couldn't get much better. I messaged back and forth and got a good feeling that the seller was naïve but genuine. I ended up offering and paying around 4000 for the collection. I think i used direct deposit and there was no ebay protection at the time so it was a big gamble.

What did i get? I got exactly what was offered. 3 full sovereigns and 2 halfs. 300 round 1966s. Around 5kg of pre decimal silver and similar post decimal. Lots of penny and half penny in bulk etc. Nothing was sorted or graded. I kept some of the items i wanted and sold the rest for around $8k. The 1930 penny was a fake as expected.
Was a very nervous couple of days waiting to see if anything arrived though.

Seems a lot of cheap gold on eBay this morning. Legit looking sellers.

    There's even a 50 peso (1.1oz) for $1000. I wouldn't touch it but possibly a real but retarded seller.

That's the same guy selling the item I posted about above. He's got a lot of gold for sale but a shit rating so I'm just browsing.
