1 Dirham = 2.975g of Silver, a unit of measure for Islamic Currency The weight is derived from the ruling that 10 Dirham must be equivalent in weight to 7 Gold Dinar, with a Dinar being 4.25g of Gold. My bid: $150 They appear to have arabic calligraphy but I can't read that script unfortunately
$160 - They will go nicely with my SRDC 1 Dinar and a couple of 0.5 Dinar gold coins (Quick slabbed for easy storage, not a graded slab)
I stand to be corrected, but I think the script at the top is the Majma-ul-Bahrain which is the beginning of 17th-century Persian philosophy thesis about religion (specifically how Islam and Hinduism have some connection) and where Baharain the country gets its name from?? The lower laser engraving is the number 8 in Arabic (looks like an inverted V) and the word dirham. Like I say - I think that's the case but my 17th-century Arabic is a bit rusty
Majma ul Bahrain means the meeting of the two seas (being Islam and Hinduism) Bahrain the country named so because of the island state "belonging" to the surrounding seas. A closer look at some images onlines reveal the script is an extract of the call to prayer (Adhan) and reads: Hayya Al Salat - Come to the prayer (meaning one of the five daily prayers) Hayya Al falat - come to success (meaning your worship will be more fruitful than your trade) Rest of your post is spot on
