Janet Yellen says she’ll use the Treasury Department to address racial inequality, "gender disparities," and "the climate crisis".

I can only imagine what new taxes this might involve.

They can subsidize any programs now that they want and have unlimited leverage.
When Obama started the bailouts he normalized the governments job in picking winners and losers and deciding who is too big to fail.
Taxpayers dont think about it tho. If they are still in that system it's far from their reality.

I guess if the dollar is toast then inflating it away for good causes absolves these people of guilt. Not the direction I expected. Also proof that there is no grand plan, just ignorance in charge.

There's a lot more than just climate change, racial inequality and gender disparities in her speech, she also talks about job creation and supporting industry etc.

Values aside (something unavoidable under the State), the key point is that there is absolutely no need to raise taxes or introduce any new taxes to fund these policy initiatives.

There may be no need. But I expect they will look for ways to tax middle to upper classes more than they already do. They've already hinted at this many times.

Maybe, not much point to it though. Proposing to raise taxes is just posturing intended to pander to the left.

What's the bet Biden renegs on his promise to repeal the tax cuts and jobs act? :p

So let's say he's got until the close of business on the 22nd January to act (not sure if he has to work on the 21st). Or it will be a fine way for the VP to begin her career - with a lie.

Trump wants to do away with income taxes since he can just print it?
    I'm voting for Trump!

It could have been that easy.
