just wondering if it's always best to get a certificate for silver bars...or does it really matter as long as it's real silver

    Cheers

Nah, its really just a gimmik when it comes to silver bars. Maybe a few people who want the certs but most people dont care.
Its easy to tell if the silver is real plus a cert can be faked also so its not really something that helps verify a bar. You take the same cautions and take the piece of paper with a grain of salt.

It is some what annoying keeping the certs.

No, silver bars don't devalue without a certificate. However, if you had 2 identical bars for sale on somewhere like ebay and one had a certificate and the other didn't I can bet you the one with the certificate will sell first. But on this forum, not much difference.

I like the certificates that Matt from Smithy's Bullion provides, it's a nice personal touch :)

I don't think any of mine have ever come with a certificate. The main reason I buy bars is because they are the "No frills" option when it comes to purchasing silver.

They are important for 'numismatic' release coins that are limited edition but beyond that I haven't come across any interest in certificates.

Do Silver bars devalue without certificate?

It doesn't Devalue the Silver Bar. Infact , in some cases it might on values.
Especially, the older vintage bar. Even any older receipt may add on values.
    Original package as well.
