I have not seen anything posted here about this coin from the Royal Aust Mint, and picked up some on Friday night when spot took a dive on trumps fake news. The spot drop off set the premium to the point I could stomach it.

Nice looking coin front and back, came in a capsule as well which is nice. Figures you degenerate stackers might enjoy some potato quality photos so here they are.

Its much larger than the 1oz from Perth Mint, looks more like a 2oz coin than a one ounce

yep this was the one i mentioned in the 1/10oz kookarburra thread. Not too shabby looking eh. Did you get yours from ABC bullion or direct from RAM?

ABC, they are no mess no fuss supplier and fits in with my work movements.

It really is a big coin, like the size of a 1oz silver bullion coin.

Nice, it must be flatter than the PM ones. Will try to pick one up when gold dips again. Maybe tonight. Most of the time the shipping from ABC bullion ($35) kills the deal for me here in Brisbane most of the time as Bullion Now does shipping for $15 and local Ainslie also does shipping for $17.(both including insurance)

Their other "southern skies" one looks pretty lousy to me...

the insurance they insist on does affect final shipping price. I am lucky I am able to collect in person and pay by EFT so my costs work out well in my direction. Its also around the corner from my SDB so i can pickup and secure in one trip.

here is another shot showing the size difference and yes it is a thinner pressing compared to the others.

well there are just gonna be more and more gold coin collectors from China hungry for Aussie gold. Even locally the asian population percentage is growing. These lunar coins are a reflection of how the "racial landscape" of australia is changing and will be more and more collectible in the future. Even canadian mint has heaps of lunar zodiac coins now with mintages ending with lucky 888. Wouldn't hurt to have a couple zodiac lunar coins in your stack :D

Cool. I have a half once round I hate that I stamped with 888 from the Perth mint. You want to buy it?

Yea it's not a too bad coin I think. Seems RAM is trying very hard to get into the "investment" bullion category.. they'll need to add more size options eventually though. Very close to the S2 diameter.

    RAM rat
    • Diameter: 38.74 mm
    PM series 3
    • Diameter: 32.60 mm
    PM series 2
    • Diameter: 39.34 mm

Thanks for the pics, @silverhair !

Wow that is a huge diameter! Must be quite thin.

Would be great if the RAM could use their imagination and mint other designs using these dimensions.....

Are the bullion versions domed or flat?

Nice coin that I haven't seen at most bullion dealers.
As I learned from RAM advertising this gold coin has some sort of a security feature (maybe on the edge).
But I couldn't get more info on this topic.
Maybe as an owner of the coin can you explain this topic to the community?
