Hi, I'm new to the precious metals. What's the difference between the two, when is time to sell? What I can see is that the Perth mint is in the LBMA-Good delivery list but has no serial number on the bar. And ABC, is not on the list, for silver only, but bars come with a serial number. Which one do you guys suggest me to buy? I'm located in Australia and I only found these two with a decent premium... Thank you
I would buy it at ABC and pick them up in person. That would be the cheapest way for me. If postage is required then just get the cheapest from wherever you can find them all in after the postage charges.
It says this on their website: ___ ABC Bullion is a full member of the LBMA. ABC Bullion is the only independent bullion dealer in Australia to have full LBMA membership. ABC Bullion joins an illustrious list of just 68 full members globally, including Credit Suisse, Glencore International and the Royal Bank of Canada. https://www.abcbullion.com.au/lbma ___
Lets price be your determining factor....Perth Mint / ABC makes no diff to me. However as noted by Silverling, postage needs to be factored v if you can buy and take in person.
Always try to buy locally and pickup personally. Get to know your dealer. LBMA makes no difference to the resale of the bar unless you are selling tonnes internationally. Don’t get hung up over it. By local, cheap, and often.
go with what ever is cheapest at the time as others have said. Both sell for the same price on resale anyway.
Also don't encourage a duopoly market by buying from the Perth Mint and ABC directly. If you want the duopoly products, you can still get it from your local dealer at a competitive price. By supporting your local dealer, a competitive market can be maintained. Most people don't realize that there are a lot of mid-size dealers out there that provide better service than the duopolies with similar or better pricing. They also source their products from overseas and smaller local refineries to give you a wider range of products. The competition they provide do help keep premiums low.
take a look at ainslie bullion. i found them to be cheaper total cost including insured shipping than both ABC and perth mint.
Would you buy 1 Kg silver bar from The Perth Mint or from ABC? Consider buying a Kilo coin. If they are available, A Perth Mint Silver Kilo bar might cost $812, A Kilo coin might cost $858. Sure, that's a big price difference but the coin "may" appreciate more than the bar. Some folk collect those big silver coins, they look impressive.
My primary reason is that after this Covid-19 stuff I'll be leaving Australia. So I wanna buy something that I can easily sell elsewhere
That's true. I usually check through this link http://www.lbma.org.uk/good-delivery-list and ABC appears only for gold...
Buy some sovs instead. Easier to transport on your person, recognised across the world and very easy to sell
SOVs mainly 22ct, this depends on your preference... and plenty of history of where that coin has been in trade and exchanges hands... my favourite, but can't afford them
Nothing like going for a nudie ride and stabbing a dragon along the way...lucky it was only a little one.
