Where on the timescale are we?

I'd expect we're looking at 6 months or so after the lockdown finishes in USA.

btw - " $5000/oz by next year, 15,000 in next few years "

Apart from maybe a temporary relaxing of the Lock down. I'm expecting this lockdown to be indefinate and to intensify. I think lockdown is quite possibly forever.

Which kind of relates to the reasons behind my current affairs post.

    This is a lockdown experiment.

Regardless whether needed, they will continue to impose lockdowns whenever they want. Extreme monitoring will be stepped up.
We are going to live in an environment, when they will lock people down whenever they want. Whenever their butt itches for a bank holiday combined with a "haircut", when they steal your money and you'll have to stay home.

I can imagine a longer lockdown.

Although most people expect Europe to "recover" in mid-May, US in June/July. I think this will last until August/September - by looking at the stats.

And I actually have a preference for the tinned variety over the home made stuff. Love those markets where you go and buy a weisswurst and load it up with sauerkraut and mustard. Sigh.

If folk are carrying excess adipose tissue, remember to keep your fluids up (Drink when your thirsty) and add some Pink Himalayan salt to keep the electrolytes levels correct. ;)

It is highly probable that we'll have both food shortage and currency crisis - combined. I rarely hear this from the "experts".

Currency devaluation will turn money into rubble... but even if you have money, it will be hard to buy food, because there will be less companies able to produce it and, people will hoard.

It's what's going on in Venezuela. It's been 6 years and they're still in it: money is worth less than the paper it's printed on, but food is scarce anyway.

There are 3 other major problems in collapsed societies, which few people mention:
    - while having little or no money at all, you will still be required to pay your taxes
    - public safety: theft, robberies, assault
    - it will be difficult to travel from city to city because it will be more expensive, there will be road blocks and public safety will be poor
    - scarcity of medicine

Where I live, pharmacies have run out of Vitamin D, which is so vital for a well-functioning immune system. Of course, everyone is hoarding it.
    Paracetamol is another rare asset.

Yes, from time to time I go outside. Of course.

But we're legally limited to stay indoors and only move out for certain basic needs like: buying food, medicine.

Looks creepy. Like a ghost ship. But in an Orwellian age, it looks as pretty as a floating communist houseblock.

    Interesting:
Nobel Literature Laureate Alexievich Backs 5G Coronavirus Conspiracy Theory

"Svetlana Alexievich, the Belarussian winner of the 2015 Nobel Prize in Literature, has suggested that there might be a link between wireless 5G technology and the deadly coronavirus pandemic.

Though no evidence exists to suggest a link between 5G and Covid-19, Alexievich told the U.S.-funded Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty’s Belarussian service that “scientists aren’t fully certain,” unleashing a firestorm of disappointment among social media users.

“We still need to fully understand whether this is the flu or whether 5G is already affecting the human immune system,” Alexievich said in the interview last week.

The widely spread 5G conspiracy theory has led to a series of arson attacks on telecom towers and other infrastructure across Europe, including in Britain, Ireland, Cyprus and the Netherlands in recent weeks.

The World Health Organization maintains that coronavirus cannot spread through radiowaves or 5G mobile networks.

Russian and other state-backed trolls now appear to have hijacked what was an “organic” 5G conspiracy theory, Business Insider reported Thursday, quoting an unnamed Dutch intelligence official who has been tasked with helping prevent 5G attacks.

“We have also seen a great expansion into pushing this narrative by social media troublemakers and bot networks controlled by state actors such as Russia, Iran and others,” the official was quoted as saying.

Belarus had reported more than 4,200 coronavirus cases and 40 deaths as of Thursday. The virus has infected 2.1 million and killed 145,705 people worldwide, including in countries without 5G coverage."

    The article was posted here

Other sources, rumors state the she said (allegedly, unverified):
Scientists don't know if... "...Covid-19 "is really a flu, or it is 5G already affecting the immune system""
