Melbourne and Sydney are/were great but as you get older, there is only so much you are going to compromise on, especially with children. I’ve lived around the country. Hands down, there are 3 places I prefer in Australia. Sydney and Melbourne are not there.

Last time I really needed TP was downtown KL. There were two toilet rolls installed. I didn’t understand this idea until 2 days later.
Queensland and Malaysia share something in common. Everyone seems to give them shit, but they are the regional economic shoulders
On my first innocents abroad trip to the East Coast of Malaysia, I risked my health, though I didn't know it, in an authentic speak no English, Indian style restaurant in Kota Bahru. This was long before modern Malaysia and English habits and standards had long departed when the Brits sailed home. There was a squat toilet down the back of the restaurant, which was in an English styled building remnant from their days of the Raj. If you've seen Trainspotting, well that was luxury in comparison to the doorless box facing the alley and the porcelained hole in the floor. Not much choice in squatting or not, and my bowels were telling me to hurry along, and although I realised there was no TP, not even provision for a roll there was no time to search for alternatives. With the exchange rate at the time, it cost me $2AUD in Malaysian money, to leave with relative dignity intact. That was when I realised that the decrepit old brown wallpaper with random brown marks and streaks.... was not wallpaper. That's right folks, the clientele were not in the habit of spending $2 on makeshift TP but wiped their digits on the wall, no doubt deftly avoiding other's skidmarks as the did. After all... Hygiene!! Thereafter I was haunted by the thought that my TP Dollars were rescued from the rubbish and recycled.
It was discussed quite a bit in this thread: https://www.silverstackers.com/foru...anning-cash-and-negative-interst-rates.90880/
