Steamboat Willie, Scrooge McDuck, The Lion King, Fantasia, 2019 Christmas Mickey Mouse, Darth Vader (3 different ones), Clone Trooper, Storm Trooper, Mickey Mouse 90 anniversary. I've noticed that a lot of dealers have invested huge sums of money sending in large numbers of these "Commercial Strike" Silver Bullion Coins from the New Zealand Mint. I'm my humble opinion, to say that MS70's or "perfect graded coins" can be fairly difficult to come by would be an understatement. I could see dealers being pretty disappointed sending in large numbers of these coins and in some cases getting zero MS70's back from grading, so much so that it seems that some of the more recent issues with, in some cases lower to very much lower total mintage numbers might be getting overlooked by the dealers that are seeing coins graded MS 64-69 and in turn lowering their "swift flip" strategies. I am sure that it is not currently possible to to create a complete set of the above mentioned silver bullion coins from Niue/New Zealand mint from either from NGC or PCGS in MS70 grades perhaps not even MS69's. The Steamboat Willie, Scrooge McDuck, Mickey's 90th and The Lion King's 25th Anniversary reverse designs seem to share some of the same design elements, radial lines emanating from a star pattern that do not appear on The Apmex Exclusive Fantasia coin or 2019 Christmas Mickey Mouse coin designs. Disney Characters Bullion (excluding lunars) 2017 Steamboat Willie = 250,000 coins 2018 Scrooge McDuck = 250,000 coins 2018 Mickey's 90th = 90,000 coins 2019 The Lion King = 25,000 coins (Apmex Exclusive) 2019 Fantasia = 15,000 coins (Apmex Exclusive) 2019 Mickey's Christmas Coin = 15,000 coins (Apmex Exclusive) 2019 Donald Duck's 85th Annv. = 100,000 coins Star Wars Bullion 2017 Darth Vader = 250,000 2018 Darth Vader = 250,000 2019 Darth Vader = 100,000 2018 Stormtrooper = 250,000 2019 Clone Trooper = 250,000 Good Luck to all finding the perfect graded specimens from PCGS and NGC, especially The Lion King, Fantasia, Mickey's Christmas, 2019 Darth Vader and 2019 Clone Trooper.
The 2017 Niue $2 Steamboat Willie 1 ounce silver bullion coin with a total mintage = 250,000 coins (sold out at the mint) as of 12/30/2019. NGC reports 4,393 graded specimen with a total of 266 coins that were graded as MS70 , 1832 coins graded MS69 and 2284 coins graded as MS67. PCGS reports 947 coins graded, with 0 coins making the grade of MS70, 937 coins were graded at MS69 with the last 10 coins being graded as low as MS64. So, in review that's a total of 5,340 graded specimen between both NGC and PCGS with only 266 coins making the "perfect" grade of MS70 from NGC and ZERO coins graded a perfect MS70 from PCGS. In my humble opinion, that makes the 2017 Niue $2 Steamboat Willie 1 ounce silver bullion coin in MS70 condition a very, very collectible coin.
I'm pretty sure it's not a conspiracy or PCGS and NGC would not be the most widely used and respected grading services.
The 2017 Niue $2 Darth Vader 1 ounce silver bullion coin with a total mintage = 250,000 coins (sold out at the mint) as of 12/31/2019. NGC reports 1,673 graded specimen with a total of 487 coins that were graded as MS70 , 894 coins graded MS69 and the rest graded as low as MS61. PCGS reports 687 coins graded, with only 19 coins making the grade of MS70 and 660 coins that were graded at MS69.
The 2018 Niue $2 Scrooge McDuck 1 ounce silver bullion coin with a total mintage = 250,000 coins (NOT sold out at the mint) as of 1/1/2020. NGC reports 1167 graded specimen with a total of 316 coins that were graded as MS70 and 850 coins graded as MS69 PCGS reports only 2 graded specimen, 1 coin graded as MS69 and 1 coin graded as MS64.
The 2019 Niue $2 Darth Vader 1 ounce silver bullion coin with a total mintage = 100,000 coins (down significantly from prior years that have a total mintage of 250,000 coins) and are not sold out at the mint as of 1/19/2020. PCGS reports 250 graded specimen with a total of 70 coins that were graded as MS70 and 180 coins graded as MS69. So far NGC reports only 1 graded coin = MS69. Interestingly, PCGS used a "American Flag" label on all of the 2019 graded specimen, instead of the flag of Niue similar to the 2017 PCGS graded specimen, I'm not sure if this was done in error or on purpose. The 2018 PCGS graded coins appear to all be the standard gradient blue label.
