4 years to go. Lock in the price now! :) According to some people, silver will be $1000/oz by then and we'll all be battling zombies.

You probably remember, but the newer members won't. Around three years ago, someone sold 20 sets of S1 lunars at $1200 each and they sold very fast. I don't think they would do that well in the current environment, but they certainly did back then.

I thought I revive this thread and see what members are thinking of the lunar series these days.As far as I can see s3 mouse is out and not much talk about this series. It seems the hype is down and not even close to s2.But yes sure enough its only early days...

I don't agree. The hype is down to the fact that the gold price has jumped $500 AUD /unfortunately/before release lunar coin s3 .Only the future will tell if we are correct buying lunar coins or keep fiat in the bank-I think I would choose the first one.

The zombies have come and gone and we still aren’t at $1000/oz. Maybe in another 4 years.

My faith in lunars even holding their value is dissipating as the years go by. I have a feeling no matter what the silver price does the value of lunars is going to slowly drop to near spot. The odd rare release/low mintage might have some elevated value.

I'm thinking lunar 2020 might be DOA. Sales in proofs have dropped each year. The RAM's 2020 lunar coin is selling on Ebay at 33% discount from RRP.

That's correct-for some reason I'd rather invest in silver pandas than silver lunars...

Gold lunar performance since first release 1996 was excellent-especially 1/10oz and 1/4 oz. Some from 1 series like mouse, ox or tiger you can't get it for less than $1000 AUD at least-series2 mouse1/4oz was star performer-around $1000 if you are lucky.1/10oz mouse around $500. Will not mention 2oz gold mouse 2008-the dealer in Germany listing this coin for 8695 Euro!!! Perth Mint was selling for around $2900 AUD when was released.

There have been many great changes in the coin market, like many coins series what is hot today may not be hot tomorrow and vice versa. For collectors - indeed, it is worth something collecting for all series of australian lunar and the incoming series 3 which the bonus that will be always bring enjoyment and a their pursuit of personal satisfaction.

The Collectors chest of is already full of different series considering most of them are aging. These old prominent collectors start to reach their limit and there is nothing to do but to dispose some of their collection to continue a life line. Young collectors even the astute ones can not afford to assemble due to high expected prices and economic condition, they turn into new series of lively coins sprouting from differnt mints. The old and young will never have a coincidence of wants especially now that there are varied minting technologies.
