Interesting that any gold or silver found belongs to the Crown.

It’s been that way since the Norman conquest in 1066. I guess you can blame William the Conqueror. All gold, silver, coal and oil is property of the Crown Estate. Despite the name the CE is run by a Board appointed by the government.

Article obviously written by an someone who didn't do any research!
I have owned a 120+ grams nugget in the past and it's not that big!
Fair value today, even with a decent premium over spot would be under $10,000

Scotland has around 125,000 km of rivers and streams. If there's 50,000 rivers the average length of each would be 2.5 km.

Not sure which worries me more, the fact that crap articles like these get aired by mainstream news services or the number of people who believe it's true.

The people that find this stuff in such countries (where the gov takes it from you) are morons for bragging about their finds. Why don't they keep their mouths shut and keep the stuff they find?

I saw more "exotic" videos on YouTube with a guy teaching people how to find diamonds in the ground.
It was probably South Africa/Botswana/Namibia, don't know. But he claimed one can find tiny diamonds literally on the ground, between leaves, in the dust.
(yeah, they looked like quartz crystals)

Either that was a very diamond-rich area or, he was nuts. I'm more include to believe the latter.

It's the same here in Australia.
If I dig up some gold here, even in my own backyard, it belongs to the crown.
