I think you can still get them from the Royal Australian Mint.

If you are a member of the Qantas Frequent Flyer program then you can buy them there for $180 cash or 31,300 points. At the moment they are showing a delivery of before Christmas. They seem to suggest there is plenty in stock. They look good and I think it is an interesting historical product. I hope you can source one.

Thanks guys, just asking for a friend. $180 does seem expensive but as mentioned it is an interesting historical product.

I will pass this info on to him.

Once again Stackers come up with the answers.

That's 20% off and only applies to points redemption.

no, you can either use cash or points. There is a slider you can adjust.

Probably not "worth" buying but I got one anyways from Qantas with points and -20%. I like planes and flying, too.

I also got one just for me to keep. Plus there is a 1 in 4000 change to win 100,000 Qantas points. :) I didn't use my points and instead paid the $144.

I would imagine these will be popular among the many Qantas/ plane enthusiast.

No such thing as too expensive if it's for your own enjoyment.

Thanks for all the input, my mate has gone with the $144 purchase, and as leo25 says, if it's for your own enjoyment it's worth it.

    :):):)
