Don’t really care if man marries a man or women marries a women or man/women marries a animal, toy or computer. Who gives a dam as long as they don’t interfere with my or your life?

The problem though is that in reality it now IS actually interfering with people's lives - ask those people whose businesses are being ruined (via law suites) for not wanting to cater for "unconventional" weddings!
In addition - these "anybody can marry anybody" and "you are the gender that you identify with irrespective of your biological sex" ideas, which western governments have now enshrined in law has opened us up to to being forced to accept that our young children must be brainwashed - errr i mean taught - at school to "learn" about all the different kinds of genders that can now exist (by law) and this is passed off as though this is perfectly natural and scientifically valid - even though it's complete BS and extreme leftist political propaganda dressed up as "science" (very much like "climate change" actually!).

I for one certainly do not want my young children being indoctrinated with such ideas! I believe it to be damaging and confusing for them.

I’ve never found anecdotal evidence to be particularly convincing.

Probably a waste of time, but....

Legatum doesn’t have a measure for property rights, but if you assume that property rights are a measure of personal freedom, Australia ranks 2nd in the world, China 133rd. Now if you ask me, 2nd is quite a bit different to 133rd.

I agree with your view re: Romania and Bulgaria but not Poland. Have you ever been to any of those countries in that time,or live enough long there to have proper view what's going on,or you've read propaganda Murdoch news? Every communist country was different-some had more freedom than the others-in Poland we were able and could travel to western countries without obstacle. There was plenty TV,and some other eguipment ,maybe not comparable to the West but was enough to live comfortable without DEBTS. You are right-there were 3 to 5 different types of cars, but you need only one to drive. Health system was free, education was free and once a year you could go on holiday for free to some places own by the State.

    Nice logic. Not.

Edit to add: anyone who thinks Chinese have better property rights than Australians is either on drugs, or have done drugs and are off them now, or should be on drugs.

As I understand it, the Chinese have no property rights. I thought everything is owned by the State and it can be called in at any time.

I don't understand how that accords with the current capitalist flirtations though.

Mao would be spinning in his grave.

You can own stuff but if your house is in the way of a proposed 6 lane highway there is no appeals process as far as I know, unlike in Australia. Communism is effective when it comes to achieving certain ends (as long as the money or manpower doesn’t run out), it’s just deplorable at efficiencies.

Most of the means of production are state owned, so it sits fairly well within a communist ethos where the State profits and distributes some of the wealth back to the people by way of wages, parks, bridges and grotesque statues. Apparently the share of national wealth owned by the State has increased since 2009.

I think Xi Jinping has been spinning in his Dayang, hence a move toward more grassroots communist ideals - stamping out corruption being one of the odd blessings of living under a dictator who has a fervant love for Marxism.

    This is an interesting read:

China doesnt allow individual rights for their sheeple. They have no property rights or any real freedoms. Only what the government allows which can change day to day. They are totally controlled.
