Who knows the full AC&B story? I believe they started the business and then ABC shut them down as the business name was to similar to theirs? Any more info would be great and if anyone has AC& B bars to sell/ Kind Regards Bigfella
That's not what happened It was a complex partnership ,they bought a refinery & they had grand plans which never happened Refinery was sold I believe & the 2 major players went of on their own No such court case happened between ABC & AC&B The court case was between ABC Melb & Sydney , Sydney company won the court case
http://forums.silverstackers.com/topic-32167-888-refining-10ozt-999-fine-silver-cast-bars.html Now 888 I think.
Thanks Guys I only ask as I sold a couple of AC&B 1oz Gold buttons last year and I was told in that thread the story about them being shut down.
AC&B was restructured into 888 refining ,partners left ,got sold of to somebody else Not sure if 888 refining is still around But the main players are still around under different name
Needless to say not many AC&B bars in circulation then????? I have a 20oz, 500grm, 1kg & 2kg and I know there are 2 different 1kg styles. All with serial Numbers.
Correct Not that many made to start with Don't know about numbers They weren't popular to start with 888 would be less in number and were less popular again
Was 888 owned by an Eastern partner? 888 would still be in business if they had leased their bars REDBACK
I have some 1 KG silver bars minted by AC&B - i don't see any serial numbers on them, just a triangle hallmark and a AC&B letters on them...can i sell these to any silver merchants...and will they pay the going rate for bullion?
AC&B did indeed become 888. Sady, 888 are no longer around. They are a great group of guys and are still around in one form or another
I know nothing about AC&B until a few days ago but does it have AC&B in a triangle or is that vintage Ainslie [ABC]?
Yes I was just confirming that the AC&B bar AsAg was talking about did indeed have a triangle logo or confused with the Ainslie logo.
I can confirm that i have bars with the vintage Ainslie logo, and i have bars with the AC&B logo. Do they have collector value? or is it just silver content alone? Ive seen an Ainslie bar selling for $1100aud
