I was wondering is it a mistake to buy there 1 troy oz rounds now due to the current bankruptcy and their business practices? or should I just stick to sunshine mint and opm? I am confused if dealers in person or online would accept them?
It doesn't matter about their bankruptcy. Metal is metal, no one is going to refusing accepting them.
I want to thank you for your reply I wasn't sure if they will be only melted or resold again since they are only bullion
I would suggest you look online and research who you would potentially sell to and see if they are still accepting them. When OPM/Elemetal/NTR went down, some of the big dealers stopped selling those branded products which presumably meant they stopped buying them back from customers.
Dealers wont refuse metal from defunct dealers ever. If anything, the brands that have gone away can eventually command a collectors premium.
... Having said that, I do refuse metal from 2 specific brands as I don't believe they are legitimate. I run a wholesale business, I can't dictate what retailers will buy back, but there are two brands that I wont buy. The companies behind those brands still exist. Once they go broke, then I might start accepting them at 95% of spot.
I was just confused if the dealers would by them on ''ethical'' or ''moral'' grounds and possibly wouldn't want those brands in there stores
Nah.... Metal is Metal ... They might not want to be seen selling em... In which case they will just melt them. Some might use it as an excuse to pay less. If they do, go somewhere else. Both Gold Stackers and Bullion Now in Melbourne do not discriminate.
