There's been some confusion over how to send a "private message" in the new forum software.

As a reminder, notice of the upgrade was given on 10th March in http://www.silverstackers.com/forum...ers-mk-iii-coming-soon-action-required.83492/ on the old forum that the migration would be happening, and that Private Messages on that version would NOT be migrated. If there are private messages you wish to save, either cut & paste them into files, or you could try the guide Silver Smurfer wrote to do this on Firefox:

    http://www.silverstackers.com/forum...rading-feedback-with-firefox-scrapbook.84032/

The old forum will be running to at least the end of April at the old URL: http://forums.silverstackers.com

    Conversations

To send a private message on the new Silver Stackers, you start a Conversation with the person you wish to message. A new feature is that you can start a conversation with multiple people, e.g. three or four participants. It will look just like a regular thread on the board, but be private just to the participants. Participants can also "drop out", or be invited to join an existing conversation. These are private to the participants.

You can view your conversations from the Conversation link under your profile, or through your Inbox. The quickest way to send a private message to someone is to click the Inbox tab, and click Start a New Conversation.

    upload_2017-4-11_10-39-50.png

Then you can just start typing the user(s) into the participants field, and select the correct users from the auto-search.

Once you've picked the participants, entered a title, typed your message, click Start a Conversation to send the message. Participants can respond and it will read like a thread.

    Profile Posts

These have been disabled for now. A profile post is a public post on your profile that either you or a visitor can create - anyone logged into the forum can read them. Unfortunately some users accidentally used them for trading private messages, so for now I've disabled the functionality altogether until familiarity with the new board functions increases.

Leave the conversation will remove it from your Inbox

When you click on leave there will be an option that asks if you want to essentially reconvene with that person later

So yep, just click leave and it deletes it from your inbox

Leaving conversation deletes conversation from my in box but ...... I have accidentally included a member with a very similar username in a private conversation. I can't find a way to undo or delete the conversation completely does anyone know if that's possible?

Nope. You cannot recall a conversation once started.

Just click on the 'Australia & New Zealand (public) - as normal
In the upper right hand corner click on post new thread - that will take you here >>> http://www.silverstackers.com/forums/index.php?forums/australia-new-zealand-public.30/create-thread
Enter 'Thread Title' and fill in as normal as per the old forum
If you want to add pics > click on the little 'Image' icon next to the smiley >>>pop up will show >>> enter the URL of your image

    Hope this helps :)

Thanks Greg now that was a big help. Just so many places and levels on this one. So I guess if you want to buy something you reply as usual on the thread or start a conversation with the seller like a pm putting in their name?

    Correct on all counts.
Treat everything as normal. Buzz on thread etc. PM is now start a conversation with... when you start to type a name, you will get choices in a drop down box, choose the person - thats it!
I'm still finding my way around, but if I can help in anyway just message 'start a conversation' with me, and I'll try and work it out lol

    Cheers [IMG]

Could be a permissions issue - still ironing a few out.

It was just a regular permissions issue hangover from the migration.
