Not sure if Boyou would approve of this one. The best looking black toned coin I have seen.

Panama 50c, which is almost the size of a US dollar for some reason,
even though the definition of a balboa as 0.9875 grams of 0.829 fine gold makes 1 balboa about 1/2 of a dollar,
    and now 1 balboa = 1 dollar.

Has your Balboa been sitting in a plush box?
I bought a number of South african proof coins in plush boxes that had a very similar toning.
Of course when i bought then they only showed the non toned side thinking people would be put off by the toning, lol.
I am not super into most toned coins , but some are just beautiful.
The blues , purple blacks and greens are quite something:)

OYeS..S Ohno..I like it very much..sexy blue field with scuffs ..russet gold on her shoulder/ clothing

You own this thread! Bravo Thanks very much for keeping it alive and kicking :).

@sterling nz The place of residence ..be it box/capsule or someone's bottom draw mixed in with undies and socks seems to be the key to "real" toning...

They have been on their journey ...if only quietly residing ..

It is the same coin. The right pic is just flipped horizontally.
The left picture was taken two months ago.
The right picture was taken yesterday after two months left on a window sill.

Someone tried to clean it, so in the fields there are nasty hairline scratches going in all directions.
You can't see them in the pictures since there is bright light aimed directly at the coin.

I thought I could improve the look of it.
But for the first few days I rubbed the coin everyday with my fingers, and apparently dulled some of the blue areas.
For example around the word ISLANDS.
