    Hey,

As I was watching economy-related news and interviews (e.g. with Peter Schiff), I stumbled upon this video - of a movie from 1981 that eerily presents/depicts just what we're all so afraid of - financial collapse...

Even the way they talk about it in the film sounds eerily similar to what many imagine today could happen.

That may very happen. Some event will trigger panic, and unlike the GFC governments, business, and populations in the west are more indebted now.

Problem with governments in this position is they may not be able to fund bailouts. This will further exacerbate the panic. James Rickards argues the global financial systems will be frozen essentially with the end result as shown in the clip.

Whether you buy into Rickards thinking or not, his books, the latest being "The Road to Ruin" make for interesting reading.

I would like to throw an idea out there about a possible collapse scenario.

My theory is this, the stock market is just another form of fractional reserve banking. I was talking to a friend who has some figures in stocks. I said this to open his eyes a little imagine a scenario where your bank account is frozen or just gone since here in America we have it in Dodd-Frank that all derivatives are to be paid out first. Which means your FDIC bank account is insured but will never be paid look at the size of the derivative market.

Okey so he has his money in the stock market in a broker account. Which means you only own stock if you actually have the stock certificates with your name on them. So your brokerage account is entirely dependent on the health of your broker.

My trusty crystal ball also prophecized a USD collapse. It foretold around 2020 people in the US can roll cigarettes with their money.

Eww. Can you imagine all the extra toxins you would inhale doing that?

They'd be much better off using it as toilet paper. It is a more appropriate image and if it all goes down they may well end up with a shortage in that department anyway! ;)

I'm pretty sure that's what the Venezuelans are doing with their currency now.

The movie was a flop, Jane Fonda's tits are too small.

It's been a while since I've watched Rollover. Might give it another run tomorrow.

Best line in the movie "The system will be fine... provided nobody panics" :D

So, it all goes down to PANIC. The fiat "poker", quantitative easing can go on endlessly... until someone finds out.
    It's really a casino game!

There's just one thing to watch for: PANIC.

Should it occur, you too can PANIC!
