Interesting that the engelhard button types have been brought up again recently. A few old gold bars from Australia have recently turned up over here, and I noticed two types of JM buttons.

I'm curious if this has also been brought up previously? TIA

Take a look at the beauty local dealer has for a sale.
Unfortunately, I could afford only its silver cousin.

The shape reminds the ones made in London division.
    some research to do.

This little Gold button found it's way here all the way from Australia, so I thought the least I could do was scoop it up ;-)

That Golden West Refining button is a really good example. Nicely stamped and still in good condition. We recently saw a 37.5 gram (1 Luong) size that I might have been interested in if the stamp strike had been better. The top bar in the 3 bar pyramid logo was missing because of a dimple, and the other side was off center if I recall so we just went with the deak one because we didn't have the means to buy both at once. It's since sold.

    Hi all,

I've been admiring this thread for a few days, some of the pics are amazing. I'm going to start stacking physical next year after taking some money out of junior miners. I was going to buy standard 1oz bars from my local dealer, but seeing some of the pics here I would love to know how I can my hands on the more collectible bars seen here.

I've found a couple of sites online that have some really cool bars, but I was wondering if there were any niche sites out there, or is there much inter-member selling going on here too?

All info would be much appreciated!

    Thanks!

I would strongly avoid the niche sites cos they would be fleecing you blind with their ridiculous premiums (unless you're willing to fork out money).

I suggest either looking out at the sales thread, or on ebay where you find some nice bars once awhile. The trick to collecting such bars is to be patient and not buy them all at one go.

You could also go down to Hong Kong where they have those nice tael bars that never go out of style.

Altima has given you good advice, simply look for them on your local classifieds and so on.. often their owners will be selling them even cheaper than the new ones, since 'they are old and ugly'. :)
