I am not sure about these rolls in particular but rolls in general have always been quite popular on this site.

Mostly when they are first offered for sale, rather than after the price has taken off.

One member was a dealer and was getting hold of quite a few rolls and selling them at a very reasonable price, around $30 over face value if I recall, may have been more or less, it was a while back. They were snapped up quite quickly.

Other have been offered after the prices have exploded and if they are less than what you can get them on eBay they seem to do well.

Yes I believe the green version were going very cheap ($65) and the orange around $80. I know the days of $65 are well and truly gone, but I would certainly snap up a few at $80 (other places were sellling $90-$100).

It's hard to compare the newly $2 roll over the $2 green due to the fact that it was a long wait between previous $2 roll (coloured poppy in 2012).

The past 2 years, we have seen a run of $2 orange and $2 red with RAM official paper wrap, which has not been popular in the after market. Maybe the market is saturated with so many coloured $2 and $1 commeratiives ($1 anzac)?

I personally passed on buying the newly $2 roll as the previous $2 red/orange hasn't really take off.

Yeah that's what I was thinking. I have the opportunity to buy 2 at the $100 price point, but am debating whether to just grab 1.

I spend that $200 on the $10 bag from RAM. Seems like a better option with lower entry point which seems to better option and gives better return via higher quantity.

Solid option also. I did grab a few of those. I think I just like the idea of being able to sell off sets later (either roll + bag, or a few of the different rolls etc).
The $10 bags are good value now though with being able to grab 3 in the one lot of postage.

Just grab it with 3 bag of 2017 $1 anzac. And just put it away like your saving. Too easy.

I am surprised that RAM allowed 3 bag per transaction, can see it financially benefitting RAM.

From memory they only made about 5000 rolls in the previous offerings. I wasn't even aware that there were that many roll collectors in Australia.

I am sure the first rolls went well due to speculators buying them up to put on ebay. If anyone got left with a box of them they are probably not buying so many this time around.

I have only bought the bags, as bloomst says, it is a lower entry point and many of the collectors I know just want one to put in the album, they don't want to buy a bag and pay the $10 postage.

I think that relate also to the boom in eBay and FB page that allows people (not necessarily collectors) to speculate/buy/sell on coins.

Speaking of the ANZACs commemorative coins, I notice that the RAM is selling the newspaper coins for $80

I am not sure how above board it is but several members of the coin club have been telling me that their local newsagents are selling the complete sets for $39 before they have to return them all to the Mint this Friday.

I haven't had a chance to get to any newsagents but one had approx 30 sets to sell and has now sold out and another had around 100 sets to sell and was getting through them quite quickly yesterday.

I was in Adelaide a week or so ago and there was a building in the CBD which must be the newspaper head quarters because in the front reception they had a bargain bin full of the 2015 coins (Without the $1) all for sale at $39. I guess it beats melting them all down again.

I was in I.S. Wright coin shop on Castlereagh Street a few days ago, and he still has the rolls @ $165. each.

$100 at the minute (I caved and got the 2 that I could). If you are looking to flip, I am sure a few people would pay a bit more.

I would imagine that next year will be the last year that they bring these out so it shouldn't be too hard or expensive to put together a whole set unless they muck about with the commemorative $1 like they did for the 2015 set.

Just sold a few of my rolls on fleebay ...

    $510. & $530. for Red Poppy.
    $390. & $410. for Gold Poppy.
    $545. for Purple Ring.
    $180. for Green Ring.

Thus, this is the current 'market value'.

As per my other post .....

The big winners ( recent ) are:

    2016 $1. Change-Over rolls ( and the 5 cent rolls ).
    2015 $1. ANZAC commemorative rolls.

Both of these $1. rolls have increased in value by 6 - 8 times in past month.
