    according to this site: http://about.ag/Engelhard-10oz.htm

P-Series, wide, poured, waffle back, original '99 9' design

[Serial #] Flat These have tapered edges (sides slanting inwards from top to bottom), so the top has more surface area than the bottom. NOTE: There is also a variety like this, with a flat back, before around P010000 to P014000 .

    Mintage 75,000 to 80,000

It's nearly impossible to get involved in stacking and not notice that this brand somehow plays a special role. But (although I fear that this question could be considered as blasphemy in this thread) : What is so special about them? Of course, some of the older, poured bars have this special flair, like, ... like,... yeah: Like all older, poured bars :D Is is the diversity? It might be interesting for collectors, but I think this makes it hard to recognize fakes. Maybe I missed some important point here...

I put it akin to feeling a connection with a song or music

there are some bars that can do it for you also and Engelhard have a magic touch

    for me anyway.

Best way to explain it is if you are into Fabric, there are some you just love to hold,

wear and feel on. I will settle for an Engelhard.

Admittedly, this statement is particularly hard to understand (for me, at least) : Due to the tremendous diversity of their bars, there is hardly anything that makes them "unique" in that sense. They have so many different sizes and shapes and styles, and they literally have nothing in common (not even the logo...). But again, I can imagine that this is exactly what makes them interesting for collectors. Maybe it's also simply the fact that they are no longer made?

However, now that I noticed that I wrote my previous post on 8th of March, the birthday of the company funder Charles Engelhard Sr., it sounds even more blasphemic  Apologies for that :D
