Pretty happy to see Bitcoin up over 15% since I bought in for the first time only a couple weeks back. Just broke through $350 AUD.

Anyone want to speculate on what might be driving the rally?

Yeah it's the USD increasing compared to the AUD

BTC in USD is still in the same trading range it's been in for a while now

69c to the dollar is what has caused most of the movements in AUD investments

Not much of a rally unless you bought sub-200 USD.

As tozak pointed out, its just the weakening AUD. Which is still a good thing for you!

I also think the XT FUD was used by whales to push price down artificially I trade in USD so I don't really notice the AUD effects to much. Actually untill this week when I am trying to buy a few more with birthday money =)

Hey Bugged out, I've been wanting to dabble in a bit of Crypto for a while but haven't been sure how to make the purchase other than joining these websites where they want scans of licenses with handwritten dates etc. There surely must be an easier way.

I've established myself a wallet, can you recommend a place where I can just purchase the coins using credit card??

    Any help much appreciated.

BTW. Just signed up but have been reading these forums for quite ome time now and have found some very useful info.

I am fairly new to this, but from what I've seen the exchanges want all the "Know Your Customer" stuff to cover themselves against potential criminal activity.

The alternative seems to be dealing with Bitcoin buyers and sellers directly such as on this site, or places like https://localbitcoins.com/

This usually involves going into their bank and putting cash over the counter directly into one of their accounts and they then release bitcoins to you. They usually operate on a pretty narrow "transaction window" of maybe 90-180 mins or so.

I have been exploring the use of overseas exchanges but that creates complexity with currency conversions and relying on foreign bank accounts but even the foreign exchanges seem to want full ID verification.

Maybe there's another way, but I haven't found it yet.

    Thanks mate,

that's pretty much the conclusion I've come to myself.

After eventually buying some, I'd like the ability to offload pretty quickly or transfer to another crypto/traditional currency should the need arise. It seems the current methods don't allow for quick, guaranteed sales/purchases.

I'll keep looking into it and should I find out any further info let you know.

Also, if anyone else can add to this then that would be much appreciated.

    Cheers.

Hey guy's, try 1ex.trade , through them you open a bank account with a Panamanian fin service that gives you an IBAN you can transfer money to it and trade coins for AUD.. also ANX offer same service, though they charge GST .. as does coinjar if don't mind GST easy way to go..

happy to provide a few coins to new members for au bank deposit to get started.

larger exchanges will always require proof of it for any significant purchases or trading, anonymous buying and selling is no longer possible. i like kraken.com that allows for trading to other crypto or back to fiat if required.

i also own some BTC, but i am sorry to say that we won't see it succeed.
it is the simple reason that US gangsters will not allow to have a counterpart to the
their sh** fu**ing $. it will take too long until the fight is over and the green paper
is burnt. US banksters will have theit own issued blockchain based technology to replace bitcoin or send it to nowhere.. the new digital cash will be under their control and only they will made money out of it. the real digital cash build by free people for free people will die.
sorry but at some point of time we have to accept that the poor and the middle class is
only a hugh hoard of modern slaves.

Well that sure took the wind out of my buy some Crypto sails.

I was looking at just a smaller dabble moreso, however I don't want to throw a grand into something and watch it peter away to nothing.

Maybe I'll give it a bit more time to think...

    Thanks for your input.

The link to Bank accounts and exchanges is the way it will go. you have companies that handle the fiat side of the exchange (like crypto capital) they are a bank with all the necessary stuff and your details arent held by the exchange. after a few years in I am only now fully going all out on a bank account linked exchange, I like the idea of being able to use a debit card to pay for things in cryptos. plus the ability to move between fiat and BTC and be able to draw on it rather than the BTC-e Fiat which I can't.

Hot tip look at WBB on bitcointalk ;)

Long as you don't sell you don't lose. in BTC at least. it will always come back up, with Alts though you can bust a nut but at the same time make 1000% more profit.
I would never buy a spotlight coin off Bittrex as they are usually scams, but there are good Alts out there, I'm currently holding 3 that I would have to be the most positive on up to this point in my trading.

Now over $400 AU and going strong - even though the $AU has been holding it's ground recently.

Anyone want to speculate on what might be behind the rally?

Just more money coming into the market regardless. We are not mining that many coins right now and it's going to drop further over the next year.

I'm getting out of my small remaining holdings. I only had BTC ready to roll in order to sell to my clients that had cryptolocker infections. Since I am leaving that job, no requirement for it any longer. I dislike the personal information being woven into the system where the whole idea was that it was an anonymous exchange.

We are cooking now. Up to $425 AU

Could this be one of those spectacular speculative runs for Bitcoin?

This is getting crazy now. Hit $500 AU today on BTCMarkets.

That's an increase of 17% in under 48 hours. Check out the graph. It's looking pretty exponential so far to me..
