http://agaunews.com/queens-beasts-lion-coins-now-in-proof-finish/ Beautiful as expected, but make sure you're sitting down when you get to the prices. The kilo gold is fifty grand!!! Source:
I've just bought the 1oz silver version, I was hoping they would have done a proof 2oz version aka the 2oz Queens beast bullion coins but unfortunately not. Anyway the 1 ozer looks nice & I'll probably collect the set as the Griffin is a beauty too.
They haven't given any details on the packaging at The Royal Mint website - so no idea yet. Guessing a box and booklet. Hoping for capsules as well. I grabbed a couple of the 1 oz anyway. Limited Edition Presentation: 8,500. A bit pricey but if you're logged into your account from outside the EU - you cant least see the prices without the VAT slug.
Could someone please tell me...if ordering silver coins from the Royal Mint, but living in Australia, do we still have to pay the VAT on their silver products? Thankyou
received an email from Downies for Aussies looking to purchase locally; they also have pictures of the case it comes with - just the standard sort of presentation really
I'm guessing it will come in a standard case with cert etc, although it doesn't show that on the website. I'll give you a definitive answer as soon as mine arrives.
They've sold 5000 of the 8500 1oz silver in just over a day! Updated images of the 1oz silver proof on the Royal Mint site includes case and booklet.
It's really disappointing that 10oz will have the same diameter as 5oz version. Not a big fan of "thick" coins. And missed opportunity in my view. Kilo silver is limited to 350, but price is crazy high. For this price you can get 2 other kilo coins. Libertad kilo is minted in a little bit higher numbers (depends on the year), but it has (at least for me) much better and more interesting design, even though Jody Clark is for sure talented. I also wonder how it will be with milk spotting. I like Britannia 2014 5oz proof a lot, but it's very hard to find one without milkspots. I think mine developed tiny ones, but it's still very annoying and disappointing. As always it seems with Royal Milking one needs to be careful with mintage numbers as it seems there will be some sets released or something. If I have spare money I would maybe buy 10oz, but considering the price and milkspots I'm not so sure.
Website now showing case & cert http://www.royalmint.com/shop/The_Lion_of_England_2017_UK_One_Ounce_Silver_Proof_Coin
This arrived yesterday, a beauty in the flesh,I had hoped they would do a 2oz proof version as per the bullion Queens beast coins but unfortunately not.
2,767 now remaining. I'm monitoring this issue and expecting to see the recurring theme, to sell down mintage limit to 75% at The Royal Mint - then over the ensuing weeks they drop to 85% sold, meanwhile MCM releases the graded NCG PF70 versions. At that point Royal Mint adds the 99% Sold banner. Great looking coin.
