http://www.avaaz.org/en/no_champagne_for_monsanto_loc/?btujtbb&v=32402 Another petition....... A bit larger movement than the other petitions I've seen linked here.
They've rarely been prosecuted for corruption so I'd say it's unlikely that if anyone by any strange fluke would find out.
Apparently this Avaaz petition page has been hacked and all the signatures (800,000 of them) have been removed. If you signed this petition before please click the link and sign again. Let's let them know their tactics won't work for them this time. https://secure.avaaz.org/en/no_champagne_for_monsanto_coff/?adrHuab

Yep so if a US oil giant wants to strip mine the great barrier reef and the gubmint says no...the company can sue australia for loss of 'perceived' profits.
The way I read it, it would require the government to sell mining licences and get them to incur exploration expenses and such not and then say no. But seriously, does anyone truly believe that the Liberal or Labor Parties would sign up to such a bollocks law? Neither of these parties would agree to a law that says they can be sued by foreigners for making political decisions.
It's the ISDS clause that the gov doesn't want included in the TPP. The ISDS clause is the part that allows companies to be able to do this. Saw a vid on it a while back, apparently the tribunal that makes the decisions on these cases is made up of other TPP signatory countries. The whole TPP stinks.
