paypal is handy if you have paypal funds through say selling on ebay. that way you can avoid the 3% surcharge, just like you pay for credit card purchases. But to avoid that 3% via paypal payment, you need to pay via paypal gift, because it's gift, your not protected as a buyer obviously because you sent a gift, but a gift is like cash, so no 3% because the dealer was not charged a paypal fee for the gift. if your not worried about protection then that's the way to avoid paypal surcharge, another 3% on top of the already high premium.
I just did and I gifted it to them rather than as a payment for goods. I would do that for any other member on this site that I purchase stuff from so why not them too? no different to depositing the money in there bank account imho
