Just an interesting discovery: While weighing a few batch of the above coins (1 ounce 2011), find that the Eagles and Austrian are usually in the 1.00-1.02 Troy ounce region (over 40 pieces). While the libertad (over 20 pieces) weights in round 1.00 to 0.99 ounce. Anyone have the same findings? If it's true, for every 100 Mexican you have, assuming you get the low average of 0.99 ounce, you get screwed out of 1 silver coin...
Lol....plata in a sombrero hat and tequila daiquiri.... In the famous speech of our little mexican friend: Plata!!ndale! ndale! Arriba! Arriba! Epa Epa! Epa! Yeehaw!
I would be checking the precision of your scales. What happens if you weigh 2 coins 0.99 each do you read 1.98 or higher ? Do your scales read to third decimal point ? Have you weighed in grams and compared against 31.104 ?
Admittedly my scale goes to only 2 decimal place in Troy Ounce and 1 decimal place for grams. (500g max) Have done 2 types of weighing: 1. Weight individual 1 ounce coin over 20 samples of each type (Libertad, eagle and Austrian) Result Over 20 samples:- Ranges from 1.00 to 1.02 Ounce for Austrian and Eagle Ranges from 0.99 to 1.00 Ounce for Libertad. 2. Mass weighing of 15 coins: (*Note:Limit of my scale is 16 Troy Ounces) Results: Austrian/Eagle-Over 15.03 Ounce Libertad: Under 15.00 Ounce ~ 14.96 ounce Will try weighing average of 2 coins the next time I have a chance.
