    I don't think you can bit Spot + $X.
    What if Spot drops? Your bid will be less than Horrie's.
    Up to the auctioneer though.

    I understand and recognize the potential of trouble for mixing of absolute and relative-to-spot bids early on. I hope that as we approach auction end we will not be loitering around spot for any of these coins. So time might just resolve this problem!

    Exactly......... as I was not expecting my bid to stay there and I was just pointing out that someone elses bid was lower.
    And look what I get for doing that.

    Spot is $726. Even if your bid was the highest bid to date it would be pointless to bid below spot when we are so close to auction finish. Anyone who places a bid below spot but closer to spot will take the coin away from you and pay exactly what you would have payed - spot.
