Has anyone seen these before? Aren't they supposed to have bullion markings as well (i.e. 999 silver 1 kg)?... Is this one legit? http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Bullion-ex-S...00527680008?pt=AU_Bullion&hash=item45f8d87a08
Should be engraved with.. "Worked 30 years for the bank and all I got was this lousy silver ingot" =D
Getting back to the original question - it is legit. There is 999+ kilo silver stamp on the other side. s.
I have one already. What came to my attention is that seller says in the description that there are no bullion marks on it - should have kilo 999+ silver mark on the back.
Is it worth the risk if it is actually .925? what if its .800? In the end, its only worth what you can re-sell it for later. With no hallmarks or stamps this would become difficult. This is a great collectors item but no sane investor would touch it.
This ones been up for a while (not state bank) ... going for slightly over spot at the moment. 50oz silver bar http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI...1911910&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT#ht_689wt_905
Confirmed fine silver. 1kg State Bank Victoria silver ingot purity assessed by Edlins, Canberra. Result: fine silver rated 99.96% (999). No purity stamp but tested and confirmed as three nines fine.
I recently purchased one of these bars and was curious as to its history. Does anyone know what they were awarded for? Length of service? Exceptional Service?
The ingot award initiative was created by the State Bank of Victoria, Customer Action Task Force, in 1986. Ingots are stamped 'State Bank Service Award'. They are a symbol of gratitude from the Bank and the people of Victoria: 10 years 250gm silver ingot 20 years 500gm silver ingot 30 years 1kg silver ingot 40 years 1kg gold ingot (and their wives got a gold bracelet)
I've got a 250g in its original blue case as well. They're really neat. Btw, they should be stamped "9998 SILVER" and then the weight (so in my case "250 GMS").
