Finally got mine today. Besides very basic packaging, the gilding is very sloppy on the sword and shield. It spills off the sword and shield into the background so whatever process is used to add the gilding needs to be addressed. I've never purchased a gilded coin before so im not sure if this is normal. I've noticed an Ares on ebay has the same exact issue. It really looks bad. What a shame. Nice coin otherwise.
I agree that it being an amature job. I don't see how that can get through quality control and to the customer being like that. This is just another example of mints pumping out subpar products and not giving a damn about the product or the customer as long as they get the money.
Word that I received from a reputable source is that a (large) portion of these coins were not released for sale but either went back mid stream to the mint due to quality issues or simply were not minted until the quality issues are addressed properly. My pre-order for this coin is delayed until an unspecified date as they are working on getting the quality right before they release the remaining coins. So, the good news is that the mint seems to be holding them self accountable for the quality problems with the first batch released. The bad news is that there is further delay with this coin.
Received my coin today. What a real beauty ruined somewhat by the bleeding gold. Apart from that, I still love my coin.
I do hope my order will have a coin where the gilding issue has been addressed. The coin looks absolutely amazing otherwise in the photo above.
I don't think the actual coins themselves are supposed to be numbered. The COA should have an individualized number, but not the coin, from what I understand.
I bought mine from The Coin Shoppe as well. I contacted them about a return and they refunded the full amount without issue. I have nothing but good things to say about them. The Mint of Poland might have lost a customer in me though (as a result of poor quality control).
